Sequence Assistant for searching biosequences in the new file PCTGEN:

This extension of the existing Sequence Assistant offers menu driven use of the BLAST® (Basic Local Alignment Search Tool), GETSIM and GETSEQ modules for searching protein and nucleotide sequences now also in the new patent sequence file PCTGEN (besides DGENE). For more information on the PCTGEN file click here. For more information on the run packages for PCTGEN see pctgen_help.pdf .

Under Search Assistants in the navigation frame, just click on the Sequence Assistant link to get started:

All options (incl. BATCH and ALERT) and parameters which also are available for PCTGEN in the command mode via "RUN Packages" are now amenable in the menu and options screens in addition to sequence searching in the DGENE file. Please note that one of the two databases must be selected as multifile sequence searching is not possible.

The assistant and its functionality are fully integrated into the existing STN on the Web environment:

You may enter the sequences either manually (max. 200 characters) or upload them from an ASCII text file (max. 10.000 characters; depending on search mode):

After entering/uploading a sequence you may specify additional search options / modes.

Hit the "Search" button to run the search.

The result is displayed as a diagram. After analyzing the diagram you may either cancel the search or continue with the "Create Answerset" option.

To continue with the display of answers, please use either the Results Assistant (menu interaction) or the Command Line interaction.
